Hyperreal food artist Sarasvathy TK!
Sarasvathy TK is a New Jersey based painter who creates hyperrealistic oil paintings of Indian food, seeking to create social connections and examining how narratives of food travel across generations and oceans.
Sarasvathy began drawing and painting while she was traveling internationally for her work in computer science, which she studied in India. After working on projects in the UAE and Singapore, she moved to New Jersey, in 2017 focusing on hyper realistic depictions of food. Inspired by Dutch masters from the Baroque period, she experimented with enlarging and magnifying food to create intricate details and an expansive view.
Sarasvathy TK has received accolades from a variety of American and foreign art institutions, such as the International Guild of Realism. She has been shortlisted for several major art awards in the U.S. and has received the Award of Merit from the American Women Artist Association in 2020. Her work has been exhibited and presented in both commercial galleries and institutional museums throughout the country, such as Monmouth Museum New Jersey, Salmagundi NY and Affordable Art Fair Singapore.
